Laura H. Paine came to USA in 1982 after she was awarded with a Fulbright fellowship. She graduated as a Licenciada en Trabajo Social from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and acquired a Master’s degree in Social Work (Temple University) and Master’s in Public Administration (Edison State University). She brings over 45 years of work experience in different areas of health and human services including mental health/addiction psychotherapy, fund raising, strategic planning, program evaluation and grants management, among others.
She has held positions as the Executive Director of the Hispanic Family Center, a non-profit organization in Camden NJ; Program Manager at the NJ Department of Community Affairs and for the last 18 years at the NJ Department of Health in various capacities, the last ones as Director of Tobacco Control and as the Deputy Director of Chronic Disease Prevention and Control.
During her professional work in the USA, she has used her Peruvian cultural background and her social commitment to support the interests of the Latino community by advocating/securing grants at the state, federal and private sectors. She has served in numerous boards, task forces and committees at different levels. She is the Secretary of PATHere since August 2021.
