Educational Committee

Scholarship Program’s Scholarship Program aims to encourage, to support, and to reward Peruvian-American students who are about to begin their college studies in the USA for their academic achievement, education aspiration, and their community service in the USA or in Peru. Through this program, seeks to motivate Peruvian-American students to pursue higher education, deepen their attachment to their Peruvian heritage, participate in the community, and help nurture a sense of global social responsibility.

Scholarship Contest shall conduct an annual scholarship contest granting two scholarships, each of $1,821.00 to the winners of the contest.

Scholarship Requirements

Applicants must:

  1. Be of Peruvian descent and able to provide proof of Peruvian ancestry.
  2. Be between the ages of 16 – 25 years old.
  3. Have been accepted to a 2-year or 4-year college or university.
  4. Be a resident of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware.
  5. Complete the application and submit all requested information by their due date.

Scholarship Procedures

Candidates should submit their complete scholarship application package by May 18, 2022. The Scholarship package includes the Application Form and the following information:

  1. Current official secondary school or academic transcript with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or B.
  2. Two letters of recommendation. One letter should be from a teacher or school counselor of the candidate and the other letter may be from any non-family member. Candidates should provide the individuals’ names, titles, telephone numbers, and postal and electronic addresses.
  3. An essay in Spanish between 300 and 600 words, on a topic relating to Peru, such as its culture, history, ecology, or literature and how it has influenced the applicant’s life or career goals.
  4. A brief description of the applicant’s community service.

Additional Notes

  1. Incomplete application packets or received after due date May 18th, 2022 will not be considered.
  2. Letters of recommendation are due on June 1st, 2022.
  3. Applicants will be notified by electronic correspondence if a personal interview is necessary.
  4. Scholarship due dates are listed in the Scholarship Timeline section below.
  5. The award will be made payable to the educational institution that the student will attend.
  6. If the selected award recipient does not enroll in college in the fall of 2022, the scholarship will be awarded to the first runner up.
  7. In any given year, reserves the right to award no prize due to a lack of participation by qualifies candidates.

Scholarship Committee will establish an annual Scholarship Committee to review and assist with the selection of the winners of the annual scholarship contest. The committee shall have three members with community, nonprofit, business or academic experience. Members of the Scholarship Committee will protect the candidates’ personal information and safeguard the confidential nature of their applications and related documentation.
